Ruta

BikerideCostaBrava is a long 313-km route planned to be completed in 4, 5, 6, or 7 days according to everybody’s preferences.

The route, which starts and ends in Mataró, is divided into three parts:

A very mountainous part with narrow roads, some paths and spectacular landscapes which goes through the Montseny Natural Park (World Biosphere Reserve);

A softer one, with good low sloped roads, which passes through Girona and Baix Empordà, with their medieval villages;

A third part which runs along the coast, from Tamariu to Mataró, going through caves, fishing villages, beaches and small hills.

Although the main starting point is in Mataró, you also have the chance to start from Girona in case you land at Girona airport.

You may also complete just some of the stages, the ones you prefer, without having to finish the whole route. We recommend you the stages between Mataró and Girona if you are looking for a more alpine and mountainous route or the stages between Mataró and Tamariu if what you want is to enjoy the coast.

Level of difficulty:

The BikerideCostaBrava route is a mid physical and technical difficulty level route. That is why, to be able to complete it easily and enjoy the landscape, you must be a little experienced and used to cycle on MTB.

The option to complete the route in seven days reduces the physical demand level and makes it suitable for nearly everyone who likes cycling on mountain bike. The 4-stage option increases its level of physical difficulty as it increases the number of kilometers per day.

 Stages: 4, 5, 6 or 7 days

Ruta 1

A 129-km circular route planned to be completed in 2 or 3 days. Therefore, it is ideal for a weekend or a short holiday. You can stay one day longer, whether in Girona, Tamariu or Llafranc and do some tourism around.

This route starts in the town of Girona, with a first mid-mountain stage through the Massís de les Gavarres and on to the Baix Empordà and its medieval villages up to Tamariu. From this point, we offer a second stage which runs from Tamariu to Sant Feliu de Guíxols, among coves, fishing villages, beaches and small hills. The way back to Girona runs along the greenway with no difficulty at all.

Level of difficulty:

The Medieval Empordà route is a mid-low physical difficulty level route with no technical difficulties, so all you need is to be used to some mountain bike outings to be able to complete it easily.

Stages: 2 or 3 days

Ruta 1

This is our most demanding proposal, a challenge for those who dare cover 140-km (86 mi) and 4,800 meter-positive drop in just two days, available all through the year thanks to our excellent weather. Many miles of paths and narrow roads are found, starting at the Mediterranean and following up to nearly the highest Montseny.

During the route you will cycle through a natural environment full of history, pervaded with ancient craftsmen jobs, witches and legends.  These will be two very intense days, surrounded by silence, sensations and surprises, through high mountains and Mediterranean landscapes; in short, diversity, fun and extreme effort.

Level of difficulty:

The Lizzard route (XtremMontseny) is a high physical and technical difficulty level route. That is why, to be able to complete it easily and enjoy the landscape, you must be experienced and used to cycle on MTB.

Stages: 2 days
